Wow, I really love this! I have this curious and kind of fearful relationship to Brugmansia and Datura. I encounter this marvelous spirit in the Amazonian tradition and always approached her very humble and with respect. She is so beautiful... And the smell of Brugmansia's trumpet flowers at nightfall are seductive like no others I've ever encountered!
I was curious if you might be interested in sharing this series of article in our monthly holistic digital magazine? It would be lovely to support your work in this way.
How beautiful! I haven't worked with Brugmansia before, but she sounds just as magical as all of the other nightshades. If only I could find out how to get it to grow in zone 5, hah!
I smoked her leaves a couple of times and drank the flower once in an Ayahuasca ceremony. Powerful spirit... For the lack of words to express it more deeply.
At a certain point I had a cutting at home. They grow really fast and ask the same care as tomato plants. They love lots of potassium. Well we used to have cold winters in Belgium, which is a bit similar to a zon 5, right? Maybe it gets way colder in zone 5, not sure. But during spring and summer I took her outside and during the autumn and winter I kept her in my bedroom. She already works her magic by just having her around your bed.
So if there is a way that you could keep them away from the freezing cold at certain times during the year they are easy to cultivate. But just as you mention in your article, the border between poison and medicine is very delicate. And it is definitely not for everybody to work with such a powerful teacher. As she is seen as one of the big master teachers in the Amazonian traditions.
Lovely, so grateful that we can publish this serie! Is it ok if I answer on your emails from substack for the details of the magazine?
