I love this. So often I wonder if the earth would be better off without humans, and it's refreshing to see a shift in the narrative, that humans are actually a needed part of the ecosystem, if we do our jobs correctly and mindfully. It gives me a sense of purpose, knowing I play a roll in this world.
I completely understand that feeling, I've thought it a few times myself. But I think it's the version of ourselves that is part of this capitalistic consumer-driven machine that the earth would be better without. The part of us that still remembers what it is to give gratitude and listen to the voices of the voiceless is something the earth truly needs. We all have a place in this web.
I so appreciate your wise and well expressed thoughts. The forest enjoys our gentle handling and guidance! Like you, I'm eager to start seeds, watch them thrust upward, and get them into the ground so they can stretch out and thrive. Your forest clearing project is enviable, so much potential!
Blessings on your seed starting my friend! Such a gift to be able to work with the world in that way. I am definitely interested to see how this forest garden eventually shapes itself. I'm just along for the ride, hah!
My work in the forest here in South Central Pennsylvania is so similar to yours. It is so intimate, rewarding, relational. Thank you for sharing this, it feels like a love letter.
I love hearing other folks are doing this work too! I didn't realize when writing this newsletter, but now that you say it, it's absolutely a love letter. It is such a blessing to be so intertwined with these spaces. Thank you for doing the work that you do.
